  28. Dear WinSock2'ers,

  30. in order to make best progress in each of the WinSock 2 functionality
  31. groups and review boards, it's important that we have a single 
  32. administrator for each group and review board.
  33.  
  34. The time that this will take up should not be underestimated.
  35. If you have the inclination, the time and the ability to take on the
  36. adminstrator role for one of the groups below, please email your
  37. availability to me no later than Tuesday May 24, indicating clearly
  38. which group or board you're interested in administering. In cases where
  39. there is more than one person interested in a particular role I'll have
  40. a collective discussion with all those individuals to
  41. reach agreement on who does it.

  44. Functionality Group Administrators
  45. ----------------------------------
  46. Here are the groups for which we are seeking administrators
  47.  
  48. 1  Generic API Extensions & Additions
  49. 2  Specification Clarifications
  50. 3  Name Resolution
  51. 4  Operating Framework
  52. 5  TCP/IP
  53. 6  IPX/SPX
  54. 7  Appletalk
  55. 8  Telephony
  56. 9  OSI
  57. 10 Wireless
  58.  
  59. The responsibilities of the administrator of each group are
  60. to ensure:
  61.  
  62. * Progress according to the key milestones
  63.  
  64. * Regular communication with other functionality groups
  65.  
  66. * Discussions framed by general referential paramaters
  67.  
  68. * Design decisions meet the referential paramaters and the group's 
  69.    requirements
  70.  
  71. * Arrangement of meetings on an as needs basis
  72.  
  73. * Regular communication with moderators
  74.  
  75. * Ultimate responsibility for producing actual specification sections
  76.   for the group 
  77.  
  78. * Moderation of the group's mailing list: keep high signal-to-noise 
  79. ratio 
  80.  
  81. Review Board Administrators

  83. As outlined in the preliminary WinSock 2 framework documents,
  84. there will be two review boards: The Application Review Board and
  85. the Transport Review Board.

  87. The responsibilities of the administrator of each group are to

  90. * Refinement of requirements initially proposed by
  91.   Functionality Groups
  92.  
  93. * Progress according to the key milestones
  94.  
  95. * Discussions framed by general referential paramaters

  97. * Design decisions meet the referential paramaters and the WinSock 2
  98.   requirements

  100. * Consistency of proposals from Functionality Groups
  101.  
  102. * Arrangement of meetings on an as needs basis
  103.  
  104. * Regular communication with moderators

  109. PS. Please note that the "Referential Parameters" referred to above
  110. are simply some guidelines that should make it easier to
  111. make technical decisions in the context of the WinSock 2 effort.
  112. These will be included in the next revision of the "Operating
  113. Framework" document, to be published any day now.
